ATTITUDE (THE)

The Attitude contribute Hound Dog (Yes, that one) with Little Richard (Yes, that one) on piano! Deemed too blasphemous at the time, it didn't get any airplay at all, and the band ended up "killing each other" whilst trying to record an album.

CHRIS LYNN

Chris played trombone at grade school. He was composing songs while doing dishes or following his mother humming with the vacuum cleaner. At 13, he picked up the harmonica, because "you could put it in your pocket and sing with it," and formed: Blues For Breakfast & ESP. He shared Jerry Lee Lewis' piano bench, doing the harp on "Johnny Be Good." For years, he performed all over Europe doing solo gigs with his harp & guitar, a couple of movies and some studio works. In Paris, he played with Noel Redding during the Jimi Hendrix Revival in September 1990. Thereafter he joined Carol Miles (Bootsy Collins' cousin), played at the Palace, Hard Rock Café ...Chris met Mickey Finn in a Bar where he was playing and they rocked together leading soon to his contribution as the singer, harp player and co composer of The Blue Men.

IGGY POP & THE STOOGES

From the mid 1960's, as the drummer for his high-school group, The Iguanas - to leader of the bastard-child band of the late-60's, The Stooges - to the unpredictable solo artist who has spanned the last 20 years - Iggy Pop has consistently challenged the rock'n roll establishment. The Stooges, with their anarchistic blend of the Blues and uncontrollable energy, were considered banal, three-chord noise to most critics but ahead of their time to their fans. In fact, Raw Power (1973) was in the delete bins at most record stores less than a year after its release. Ironically, in 1987, that infamous album was chosen as one of Rolling Stone's Top 100 albums - calling it "...an out of control classic." Siamese Records was the first label to release outtakes of the Raw Power sessions. Pre David Bowie mix.

IN VITRO

Formed in 1984 in the North Parisian suburbs, In Vitro starts rocking on stage in 1985. Back then, the first North suburban Punk/Rock wave: La Souris Déglinguée, Wunderbach, Rocco et ses Frères, les Porte-Mentaux, even Cyclope and Blessed Virgins set the tone for alternative Rock. In Vitro in 1985-86 is playing with the accompaniment of a rhythm box. In 1987, François -bass player and Band founder- leave the group to manage the Witches Valley. In Vitro releases his first 6 title-vinyl "Les Chaussures Pogo Vous Donnent de l'Elan" (« Pogo Shoes Give You Zeal ») acclaimed by the Press and Radio stations. They start touring in France and Europe. In 1990, In Vitro befriends the marginal anarcho-syndicalist Parisian crowd, and criss crosses the squats, the Parisian bars and clubs (concerts with Ludwig, Dileurs, Frelons, Warum Joe, Cadavres, P4, Judge AKA 47.) The police often join the party with the unrelenting aim to kill the noise. Bar owners get fined and electro groups loose their welcome. The countryside and Europe remain the only place for the freedom to Rock. In Vitro sound caught the ears of Philippe Mogane who, recognizing the energy, will and political engagement of the band as attuned with the Siamese Dogs pursuit of the atypical policy took on the production of the Cd: « Iz Paris Ready To Rock? », PM 1003 SDR. The album is available in the fine Record stores. Already, one of the songs: "Riot In The Sand" is spinned in N Y C clubs à la mode. In Vitro is Yo singing and rhythm guitar, Paul Somebody, all guitars out, Groover, the Bass Player and Tommy on drums. And don't forget that "Pogo Shoes Give You Zeal!!!".

JAMES WILLIAMSON

During their short yet highly influential career, the STOOGES featured two guitarists -- first Ron ASHETON, then James WILLIAMSON. Whereas Asheton's style was earthy and entirely feel-based (feeding off the other members), Williamson's playing was aggressive and in-your-face and it was almost as if the rest of the group was trying to keep up with him. Born in Castroville, TX (a small town just outside of San Antonio), Williamson was raised by his mother and strict military stepfather. By the sixth grade, WILLIAMSON took up the guitar after being inspired by the likes of the Beach Boys and the Ventures, and by the eighth grade, Williamson had relocated with his family to Michigan. It was around this time that Williamson joined his first band, the Chosen Few, and discovered the harder sounds of the British Invasion (namely the Rolling Stones), which in turn toughened up his playing style. After doing time in a juvenile home, Williamson returned to the Chosen Few, and befriended the group's new bassist -- Ron ASHETON. The band broke up shortly thereafter, with Asheton eventually switching to the six-string and going on to form the STOOGES by the late '60s, along with ASHETON's brother Scott on drums, bassist Dave ALEXANDER, and the incomparable frontman Iggy POP. WILLIAMSON befriended the group (even visiting the group in New York City as they recorded their self-titled debut in 1969). A year after the Stooges issued their sophomore release, 1970's Funhouse, Williamson joined the group as a second guitarist (with Alexander being replaced by several other bassists). With most of the bandmembers full-blown drug addicts by this point and with underwhelming record sales, the new lineup split up by 1972 after getting dropped by Elektra. Later the same year, a clean and sober Iggy POP met David Bowie, who in turn helped him get his career back on track -- hooking Pop up with his management (MainMan), and eventually offering his services to produce Pop's next album (preceded by a new recording contract with Columbia). Instead of re-enlisting all of his former Stooges pals, Pop only invited WILLIAMSON to join him in England to try and put together a new lineup together. When the auditions proved unfruitful, the ASHETON Bros were asked to re-join, with Asheton moving to bass. The ensuing album, 1973's Raw Power, resulted in another timeless rock classic, almost single-handedly inventing what would soon be known as punk rock. Later James WILLIAMSON and Philippe MOGANE would start the SIAMESE Records label in April 1977 with outtakes of the album unmixed and untouched by the hands of David Bowie giving to the Kids the Real Raw Sound (pre-Punk) of James' unmatched and unequaled guitar riffs. But once again, the album failed to perform up to expectations, as many of the bandmembers sank back into hardcore drug abuse, resulting in the STOOGES' final demise in 1974. Despite POP being in a deteriorating mental state, he and WILLIAMSON united to cut some demos in hopes of attracting the interest of a new label. When they couldn't find any takers, the duo went their separate ways (Pop would check himself into a psychiatric hospital before launching a successful solo career), although the tracks would eventually see the light of day on the 1977 release Kill City. WILLIAMSON subsequently turned his back on music -- going to school to become an electronic engineer, and eventually getting involved in electronics and computers in Silicon Valley. In 1979, Williamson took a short break from his computer career to produce and play guitar on Pop's third solo studio album, the new wave-ish NEW VALUES (calling his acolyte Philippe MOGANE to come and shoot the sessions. Subsequently, Mogane's photos were used in the inner sleeve), while his guitar playing was showcased on numerous post-mortem live/demo Stooges collections (usually not the best of quality) -- Metallic K.O., and starting SIAMESE Records with Philippe MOGANE to release “I GOT A RIGHT/GIMME SOME SKIN” (SIAMESE Records, dba: SIAMESE DOGS RECORDS), I'm Sick of You, Studio Sessions, Jesus Loves the Stooges, etc. Despite only appearing on one official STOOGES album during his career, WILLIAMSON's hellraising guitar licks nonetheless influenced a legion of subsequent hard rock/punk players, including Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Johnny Ramone (the Ramones), Greg Ginn (Black Flag), and Slash (Guns N' Roses), among countless others.

NU AMERICANS

Christopher Judges, the Godfather of L A Radical Punk, an English giant with a true concern for humanity, formed the NU AMERICANS. We recorded in a couple of hours, in the “wee” hours, “I Am The President,” and we added “Listen to Your Heart.” You can imagine why we picked up that song for the B-side. We had to rush as we wanted to release the disc on the day of the “Ronald Reagan coronation.” The Swearing-in Day: January, 20, 1981. And as the Reagan reign crept, bad feelings sprung among all of us...

P.L.M.B

A New York based "grime rock" trio, brimming with a raw attitude. P.L.m.B's sound is a smooth blend of grit and pop; dancing around the spontaneity of early punk rock, yet yielding a classic and modern appreciation that is very apparent. It's a delicate balance of lunacy and intellect; so don't try to drink this band through a straw. P.L.m.B is led by supposed psychiatric ward inhabitant Buddy A, who erratically hurls ironic and sarcastically detached metaphors, while he crunches away in seemingly distorted distortion. Avoid eye contact with this toon. The backbone of the band is percussion brute Buddy B; whose woven pattern work may be overshadowed by his primal madness. You can only wonder if his drum set will (im) or (ex) plode. Don't lend this beast your kit. These two magnets are polarized by string genius, The Master Craftsman. He compliments and accentuates from the shadows, like a marionette technician. Good luck trying to solve this wizard's symphonic rubix. They venture near and far in quest to inspire and recapture a musically and mentally lost generation. If you ask them, they won't say they're "saviors of music". They're just a couple of dudes who hated the radio. It's rumored that they are in fact robots. The only other conclusion is space people

WEASELS (THE)

The Weasels toured for a few years in Southern California with Van Halen opening up for them (pre-spandex), they contribute "Beat Her With A Rake" a song about .. You guessed it, woman beating! Although the feminist organizations decided to storm record shops to destroy the record, it was nevertheless deemed a classic and was played the shit out of on KROQ (Probably LA's biggest Rock station.) They tried to open up the eternal monolog about Women/Men relationships through provocative images but see where it's at .. today !!!
